On January 26th, we at International Marketing had the pleasure of attending as sponsors the leading social media event in Spain, Social Media Marketing Day, which took place at the AXA auditorium in Barcelona.
During the event, we had the opportunity to speak with Pedro Rojas, the event's main promoter and professor of International Marketing, who told us about the event's history and social media trends for 2019.
How did Social Media Marketing Day come about?
In 2010, I learned that Community Manager Day is celebrated worldwide on the fourth Monday of January, and I decided to make an informal mexico mobile database call on my Twitter account to celebrate it in a small venue I had previously reserved. I estimated that about 30 people would come at most, but it ended up being almost 100, so I saw an opportunity to turn that interest into a major event.
What can we expect from this year's SMM Day in Barcelona? What will each of the speakers bring to the table?
The four key words that define the presentations of the professionals we invite as speakers are: value, usefulness, quality, and applicability. The speakers are carefully chosen to steer us away from the smoke-peddling, heavily followed people.
As a social media expert, can you give us a rundown of the changes we'll see in social media in 2019?
Instagram's consolidation as the most widely used tool in B2B markets. Facebook's transformation into a transitional tool toward other possibilities.
The growth of social media advertising versus Google advertising and… the relaunch of Pinterest as a visual marketing tool.
