Benefits of Running a Full Node:

Post by Mitu100@ »

The standard way to do this is by installing and running Bitcoin Core, which is the original and most widely used implementation of the Bitcoin protocol.

System Requirements:

Operating System: Windows, macOS, or Linux.
Disk Space: This is the most critical requirement. The full Bitcoin blockchain size is constantly growing. As of mid-May 2025, it's approximately 650-750 GB. It's highly recommended gemini database to have at least 1 TB of free disk space to accommodate future growth and indexing.
Storage Type: An SSD (Solid State Drive) is strongly recommended over a traditional HDD (Hard Disk Drive) for much faster initial synchronization and better ongoing performance.
Memory (RAM): At least 2 GB of RAM; 8 GB or more is advisable for optimal performance and faster syncing.
Processor (CPU): A modern multi-core processor (e.g., Intel i3 equivalent or better) is recommended.
Internet Connection: A stable broadband connection with sufficient bandwidth.
Initial Download: Expect to download 650-750 GB of data. This will take a significant amount of time (from several hours to several days or even weeks) depending on your internet speed and hardware.
Ongoing Usage: After the initial sync, expect to download an additional 5-10 GB per month for new blocks, plus upload data as your node serves other peers (around 150 GB/month upload for a well-connected node). Check your internet plan for data caps.
