These days, almost every website collects cookies. However, not all websites warn users about how their personal data is collected and processed. Failure to set up such a notice on their website can result in a fine.

In this article, we explain how to comply with all legal requirements while still writing a simple and clear message.

How to tell if your website is collecting cookies
If you monitor your website's performance using Google Analytics buy telemarketing data and Yandex.Metrica, you're definitely collecting cookies. And if your website is connected to a CRM, you're also collecting them. The only exception is static websites.

To confirm whether you're collecting cookies, open your browser's developer toolbar and go to the Storage tab—that's where cookies are stored. Open the section labeled "Cookies." If you see data there, your website is collecting cookies, and you should set up a widget notifying you of this.
In Mozilla Firefox
Menu → Web Developer → Storage Inspector (or Shift + F9)

In Russia, personal data processing is regulated by Federal Law No. 152. According to its provisions, every personal data operator—and this includes any organization that officially employs at least one employee—must obtain users' consent to collect cookies.

What are the penalties for collecting cookies without a form?

When drawing up an employment contract, the employer includes the employee's full name and passport details, which constitutes the collection and processing of personal data. All websites that collect users' phone numbers, email addresses, names, and cookies are automatically subject to this law.
