With more than 80% of the global advertising market under their control, Google and Facebook have the upper hand. Being in the digital marketing business means, in one way or another, being subordinated to the power of both empires, something that is not easy to avoid and that is a barrier for many companies.

In fact, this dominance tops the list of the biggest challenges facing the industry in 2018, as revealed by the results of a global survey of more than 500 professionals conducted by Marin Software.

For 42% of respondents, Facebook russia number screening and Google are the main obstacles in business, although Amazon has also become a point of interest for 33% of marketers after expanding their advertising business.

Jeff Bezos' company is positioning itself as the "third wheel" in the current digital advertising duopoly. One of the leaders of the sector, Martin Sorrell, has spoken about it on several occasions, highlighting the potential of the e-commerce company to develop its advertising business given the enormous amount of data it has at its disposal.

In fact, according to data from eMarketer, Amazon will continue to grow in 2018, with forecasts for growth in advertising revenues of 63.5% in the United States alone.
