Google search trends for 2023 so far reveal that interest in Spain in understanding “ what is AI ” has reached an all-time high this year, increasing by 290% compared to last season and 500% compared to five years ago. Specifically, searches for “ what is AI used for ” and “ how is AI used in everyday life ” grew by more than 5,000% since 2022. In addition, people in Spain also want to know “how artificial intelligence works,” with an increase of 450%.
“It’s a type of technology that can learn from its environment, experiences, and people; and it can understand patterns and make projections better than any technology before it. AI models are trained and created by human engineers, who feed data into the system to train them,” answers Matt Brittin, Google’s president for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa , to these questions and helps to understand what artificial intelligence is and how it works .
Brittin recalls how in 2012 an AI model spain number screening was shown thousands of cat videos on YouTube so it could learn to recognise a cat, and with today’s advances, an AI model could describe a cat on its own even though it had never seen one. “Once AI systems are trained, they are tested to see if they work well. Training AI models can take a long time, but once they work, they can be deployed into production so they can be used at home,” he explains.
On how and where it is used, he notes that AI is not new and we use it without realizing it in some routine tasks ; such as anti-lock brakes in vehicles, autopilot systems in airplanes, in Google Maps to find the most efficient route, in Google Translate and now also to increase productivity with experimental language tools such as Bard.
