In one of our last posts we gave you a series of tips to help you generate traffic to a software company's blog . Among them, we discussed the need to optimize posts and the importance of SEO positioning to make it easier for users to find the content you publish. Today we are going to go into more depth on this topic and explain in more detail how to choose keywords for a software company .
A keyword is nothing more than the term we choose to attract traffic to our website through search engines such as Google. Choosing the best keywords will determine whether our website appears among the first cameroon phone number library results or gets lost in a sea of pages that no one will access. And taking into account the fierce competition that currently exists in the software world, getting positioned on the first page of Google can make the difference between success and failure.
And now comes the question: how do I do it? How do I select the appropriate keywords to stand out among the hundreds of software companies out there? Obviously, it is not a simple matter, nor is there a mathematical formula to achieve it, but there are a number of aspects that we must take into account :
Make a list of words that you want your company to be identified by . What services do you offer? Which one brings you the most benefits? Which one are you most interested in highlighting? What needs might your buyer personas have ? It is essential to be clear about this aspect, since these services that you consider important are the ones that will identify your company. For example, if your star product is a software for company accounting, the terms “software” and “accounting” will have to appear in your keywords… although, as we will see, this is not enough.
Search for specific keywords : despite what it may seem, selecting very general keywords will not help you achieve better positioning. It is clear that the ideal is to find keywords that have many searches and at the same time little competition, but this is very difficult to achieve and even more so in a sector with so many competitors. In this sense, it is advisable to use long tail keywords , made up of 3 or more terms and much more specific. Continuing with the previous example, if your accounting software is aimed at freelancers and specialized in the MAC operating system, an appropriate long tail keyword would be “accounting software for freelancers mac”.
Don’t use keywords that aren’t related to your products or services : Sometimes we can be tempted to use keywords that can attract a lot of traffic to our website, but that don’t correspond to what we sell. This is a mistake, since the user who accesses your page through the wrong keywords will not be interested in your products . Basically because they were looking for something else. For example, if our accounting software is paid, we can’t use a keyword like “free accounting software for freelancers”.
